The YAG Laser Vitreolysis (YLV) program addresses an unmet need – to determine the efficacy of YLV in treating disturbing floaters from vitreous opacities.
To do so, well-established scientific methods of evaluating vitreous structure with ultrasound will be combined with measurements of contrast sensitivity and evaluation of visual quality-of-life with questionnaires [ https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1350946220300197?via%3Dihub ].
Prior to treatment, patients will undergo comprehensive ophthalmological evaluation at the renowned VMR Institute in Huntington Beach, California [ https://www.VMRinstitute.com] and special testing (see above) will be performed before treatment and at intervals during the subsequent year of follow-up. This program has been approved by the IRB of St. Joseph Hospital in Orange, California with the goal of determining if YLV works, and for which types of patients with floaters.
