MD, FACS, FRCOPHTH, FARVO

Vitreo-Retinal Ophthalmologist. Specializing in minimally-invasive outpatient vitreo-retinal surgery and drug & laser therapy of Vitreous, Macula, and Retina.

Dr. Sebag is the founder of the VMR Institute in Huntington Beach – a leading facility for the treatment of retinal diseases such as disorders of vitreous, macula, and retina. In addition to providing outstanding care for patients with macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, vitreo-maculopathies, retinal detachments, retinovascular diseases, and vitreous floaters, Dr. Sebag lends his expertise and knowledge to medical professionals throughout the world

Alfredo A. Sadun

Alfredo A. Sadun, M.D., PhD. holds the Flora L. Thornton Endowed Chair at Doheny Eye Centers-UCLA and is Vice-Chair of Ophthalmology at UCLA.  Dr. Sadun graduated from MIT (1972).  He received his Ph.D. and M.D. at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1976 and 1978.  He completed a residency in Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School and, after a fellowship in Neuro-Ophthalmology, joined the full-time faculty at Harvard, Department of Ophthalmology in 1983.  He was recruited to Doheny/USC where he stayed for 30 years.  He helped lead Doheny in its transition to Doheny/UCLA in 2014.

Professor Taiji Sakamoto

Professor Taiji Sakamoto MD, PhD, FARVO graduated from Kyushu University, Japan. For his post-doctoral fellowship he was a visiting research lecturer under Steve Ryan at the Doheny Eye Institute, University of Southern California, CA, USA where he studied gene therapy and molecular pathology. In 1995 Professor Sakamoto returned to Japan and in 2002 became professor and chair of Ophthalmology at Kagoshima University. He is now the director of Kagoshima University Hospital and the vice president of Kagoshima University.

Félix Sauvage, PharmD, PhD

Félix Sauvage received his pharmacy degree (Pharm.D) in 2013 at the University of Rouen, France. The same year, he obtained his Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Technology and Biopharmaceutics at University Paris-Saclay and a fellowship from the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research. He joined the Institut-Galien Paris-Saclay (University Paris-Saclay, France) for a PhD where he worked on the delivery of heat shock protein inhibitors to tumours. In 2017, Félix Sauvage joined the Laboratory of General Biochemistry and Physical Pharmacy headed by Prof. Stefaan De Smedt at Ghent University as a postdoctoral research scientist with a focus on nanotechnology and photonics in ophthalmology.
